Date: Sunday, September 11. Time: 11:00 a.m. Place: Murrow Hall. The event: launch of Southport Trinity’s new 11:00 a.m. contemporary service. According to Associate Pastor Michelle Sabin, a major target audience for the new service will be the “unchurched,” – those who may be believers, but who have rejected traditional church for whatever the reason. The service will take advantage of familiar cultural elements that appeal to today’s new generation of seekers. Various combinations of music, video, drama, and even dance will support relevant and practical Christian messages.
One of the unique elements in the service will be music. Amy Edwards, Trinity worship leader and youth director, is working closely with Michelle to develop the new service. According to Amy, music will have a contemporary feeling, but will also incorporate some traditional hymns done in a different way.
Michelle and Amy are working collaboratively with Trinity’s Senior Pastor Jeff Roberts in developing preaching series and creating continuity throughout all the services. While the services will have different elements, one cohesive message will be the foundation for all four services every Sunday. “We will strive to do everything with an eye to excellence to meet the expectations of the audience to which this service is directed,” Michelle added.
