We have been a very busy ministry this summer.
We made 150 little prayer purses for the Christmas Shoe Box ministry.
In July, we handed out prayer pockets to the congregation, in all three services, during our mission moment. The prayer pockets are to be put in the glove compartment of your car or any place that you want to feel the presence of prayer and God in your life.
In the near future we will be giving prayer pockets to the Warrior Riding group. These men and women ride their motor cycles in groups to honor our veterans that have fought in past wars and who are fighting now.
We have also been giving out many prayer shawls and blankets. It is sad to know that there are so many people who are ill, dying or just hurting that need these items. Our wish is that we would never need to make another one. This ministry is blessed with many people who are making the items that are needed and we are trying very hard to keep up with the demand.
Anyone who needs a prayer pocket, a shawl or a blanket, may ask one of the angels to get them one or they can go to room 212 and pick out what they need. All we ask is that you sign the item out and put who is receiving it, what they are receiving and who is giving the item and the date. This is on a clip board on the counter top by the door. If you want a letter to go with it, they are in the bottom right drawer of that cupboard. No matter how great the need or how small the need, there is always a prayer pocket, shawl or blanket just waiting to be held and loved by the person in need.
The Prayer Shawl Angels meet every Friday morning from 9:30-11:30AM. We also meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month and the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 1:30-3:30PM. Please join us as we are always in need of more women and men who can knit or crochet. The meeting times are always printed in the worship bulletin. If you have any questions about the prayer shawl ministry, please feel free to call me at 278-7025 or to talk to one of the angels.
We appreciate the congregation’s support financially, with yarn supplies and with your prayers. We need this ministry to grow and the only way it will happen is through prayers and dedication. Lynda Sherrill ![]()
