Interdenominational Prayer Breakfast

Breakfast starts at 7 AM every Saturday morning.  We eat for about 20 minutes and have a program presented by one of the attending members and wind up with a circle prayer at 8 AM.  The first time a person attends the breakfast is free.  On subsequent visits we ask for a two dollar donation.

The Interdenominational Prayer Breakfast began in the fall of 1968 following a Lay Witness Mission (LWM) at Trinity United Methodist Church. The church had just finished moving the parsonage, adding a new educational wing and a new fellowship hall.  The LWM stirred the members of Trinity and the community into a spiritual journey which initially led to a split in the church - a split between spiritual and traditional believers.  The spiritual believers established The Rock Church, an interdenominational church on McGlamery's  Blueberry Farm located on Highway 211 at Dutchman's Acres, and the traditional members remained at Trinity.  The spiritual believers soon realized that Trinity was their church too, so they returned.  The spiritual believers, who were from several different denominations, started the Prayer Breakfast at Louis' Seafood restaurant where Alneta Crowe's mother, Gwen Dixon, prepared breakfast for the crowd.  When Louis' closed the Prayer Breakfast moved to The Sea Captain Restaurant, then to Trinity United Methodist Church where we meet today.

People who no longer live in the area often return to the Prayer Breakfast knowing that this is a place where they will see old friends.  Those who attend today come for the love, fellowship, prayer, and teaching, all offered in a Christ centered setting. (See Acts 2:42.)

Some of the early members of the prayer breakfast were: Pastor Bill Davenport, Mayor Cash Caroon, Conley and Jane Koontz, Ray and Ann Price, E. C. and Gertrude Blake, George Parker, Peg Bunting, Dee Laughlin, Celia Franck, Doug and Hazel Pait, Gilbert Mitchell, Ward Fuller, Dr. Luke Sampson, Tip Wilkerson and wife, Bill Coombes, Egan Hubbard who attended until after his 100th birthday, Jerry Sherrod, Judge Ray Walton, Pastor P. D. Midgett, Pastor Billy Peele and wife Myra, Pastor Claude Chaffin, Pastor Bill Cottingham, Pastor Bill Jefferies, Pastor Skip Williams, Harry Pressley, Cooledge Murrow, Randy and Chris Stewart, and many others became regular attendees of the breakfast. {tab=Community Bible Study}

This group is primarily a Walk to Emmaus reunion group but people who have not attended a Walk are invited to participate.

This reunion  group is an intimate group made up of those who have attended an Emmaus Walk.  The intent is to join together to support one another in Christian love and to delve deeper into understanding the things of God.  Studies may be from the Companions in Christ series, or a book that one of the members feels will help the group in their quest to draw closer to Jesus Christ.  This group takes Faith Development very seriously.
