Trinity’s Stephen Ministry underwent its first major operating change since it began in 1998.  This change came after the Stephen Ministry Leaders determined that future plans for the growth at Trinity required some adjustments.  Besides the Leadership team there are now two separate groups operating within Stephen Ministry. 

• The traditional group is the same and called the Assignment Team. 
• The new group is called the Visitation Team.

When someone asks for a Stephen Minister and it is determined that a placement is appropriate, then a Stephen Minister from the Assignment Team will be called to fill that need.  If there is a need for just short-term visits to see someone in a hospital, nursing facility or at home, then a Stephen Minister from the Visitation Team will be called. 

Traditionally, assignments are made that require many face-to-face meetings requiring months of interacting with a care receiver.  This assignment usually ties-up a Stephen Minister for months.  On the other hand, a visitation assignment would not tie-up a Stephen Minister.
