The Evangelism Ministry at Trinity focuses on witnessing to the unchurched.  Our witness brings people to Christ;  trains and equips them to grow in their faith; and helps them exercise their spiritual gifts and talents!

The following programs are sublets of the Evangelism Ministry.

The Greeter Program: Our Slogan is “Be the First” to extend a hand of welcome.  Our mission is to ensure that guests and fellow members feel welcome and  appreciated.  As a new member or member for many years, this is a wonderful way to get to know more people.  You know what made you come back and visit again, or what you wish your reception had been to make the experience more encouraging.  Your feedback and suggestions will be helpful.  Your participation in the program will be valued!  There will be ongoing training sessions for anyone wanting to be part of the Greeter Program.

Everyone can be a greeter. Introduce yourself and get to know those persons sitting around you.  If they happen to be guests, invite them to come to the Fellowship area after the Service.  Ask them what information they would like to have about our church and introduce them to members or staff that can provide the answers.

Church Information, can be found on the web-site, in brochures located at the Greeter Stands on Sunday mornings and in the Reception Room weekdays when the church offices are open.  Brochures covering our Ministries, Sunday School Classes,  Bible Study and Disciple Groups, Small Groups, and lists of Committee Chairs are available.

Visitation is a committee that visits each first-time guest's home when they attend a Trinity Service of Worship.  We knock on their door and thank the guests(s) for attending our church and hand them a bag containing a "sweet treat" and some basic information about us at Trinity UMC.  We ask if there are questions that we may answer and invite them to come back to share our love for Christ and experience the Holy Spirit among us.

Christmas Open House: In early December, Trinity holds a Christmas Open House on the same day that Southport has their Christmas Holiday Home Tour. Our church offers a warm inviting place to relax and refresh during the tour hours.  All restrooms are available to the public and we offer hot cider, coffee and many varieties of home baked treats for their enjoyment.  There is Christmas music filling the decorated, historic Sanctuary and hosts available to conduct tours.

It is our hope and prayer that many new events will continually be added to our Evangelism Outreach as members bring their ideas and willing spirit to witness to the unchurched.
