Diane Kulp is a graduate of Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education. She taught music in schools in Pennsylvania and Virginia and for the past 28 years has worked in churches as director of music. Diane served a large Methodist church in Fairfax, Virginia where she directed fourteen choral and hand bell choirs.

In addition to her church responsibilities, she has lead numerous choral and hand bell workshops and was mentor to fellow church musicians. Since moving to Southport in 2001, Diane has sung in and directed the Sea Notes Choral Society. As Director of Music Ministries at Trinity UMC she directs three choral and two hand bell choirs and was clinician/director of the Brunswick County Schools' Honor Chorus. Diane and her husband Dave have three grown daughters.

Church Organist Carolyn Williams
carolyn williamsCarolyn Williams holds a Bachelor of Science in Music from Campbell College, a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Administration from the University of South Carolina at Columbia.  She taught classroom music in the Department of Defense schools at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville.  Carolyn retired from the Brunswick County Schools as Principal of Supply Elementary School in 2000.  She has served as Music Director, Pianist, Organist, and Chair of the Music Committee at Trinity. 

 

Carolyn is a native of Brunswick County, having been born in Southport.  She now lives in Boiling Spring Lakes .  She enjoys singing in the Chancel Choir and playing handbells with the Celebration Ringers.  She has raised Cocker Spaniel puppies in the past and hopes to soon have a new four-legged child.

Church Pianist Cathy Furpless
cathy fulpressCathy Furpless has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of North Carolina and a Masters of Education from the University of South Carolina. She is now retired after 32 years as a teacher and administrator. Cathy serves as the pianist at Trinity and gives private piano lessons. Her community involvement includes the Stage II Productions Theater Company.

Cathy and her husband Bill, who is the owner of the historic AMUZU theater in Southport, have two grown daughters. Laura has graduated from UNC and is teaching music at Town Creek Elementary and She is also a Sunday School teacher and leader of the Darlin' Doves here at Trinity.  Her other daughter Catherine, is a junior at UNCW in the Cameron School of Business.
