On Sunday, September 11th at 11:00AM in Murrow Hall, the “launch” of Southport Trinity’s new 11:00AM. Contemporary service will occur.

“As elements of the service come together, we’re really excited about this new worship experience at Trinity,” said Associate Pastor Michelle Sabin. She noted that a major target audience for the new service will be the “unchurched,” – those who may be believers, but who have rejected traditional church for whatever the reason. “We want to be relevant while retaining a totally mission-based focus,” Michelle added.

The service will take advantage of familiar cultural elements that appeal to today’s new generation of seekers. Various combinations of music, video, drama, and even dance will support relevant and practical Christian messages. “While praising God is always the reason we worship on Sunday, the service will emphasize being Jesus in the world when we leave the worship celebration,” Michelle noted. “While we believe that the service will appeal to all generations, we are particularly concerned in creating a worship experience for those who do not have a church background and for those that have rejected the church but still love Jesus,” she added.

One of the unique elements in the service will be music. Amy Edwards, Trinity worship leader and youth director, is working closely with Michelle to develop the new service. “Music will have a contemporary feeling, but will also incorporate some traditional hymns done in a different way,” Amy said. “We’ll be careful not to dilute the Christian message in any way, but we also want to ensure we are not ‘lukewarm’ in the music, and all other elements. We will strive to do everything with an eye to excellence to meet the expectations of the audience to which this service is directed,” she added.

Michelle and Amy will be working collaboratively with Trinity’s Senior Pastor Jeff Roberts in developing preaching series and creating continuity throughout all the services. While the services will have different elements, one cohesive message will be the foundation for all four services every Sunday.

Michelle and Amy also noted they are seeking additional, committed team members to help create the new Sunday service. Needed are graphics and PowerPoint design people, set designers and builders, as well as missions, social, and hospitality coordinators. “We also need experienced videographers, since we would like to produce most of our video material in-house, instead of purchasing generic, ‘off-the-shelf’ videos,” Amy added.
